The Storm.

The clouds roll, tumbling over the tower peaks
in time-lapse movements; they run from the sunlight
like waves over summer bodies in the sea.

Love-swept ravens sing to them, begging the rain to fall,
just as lovers beg to feel each other’s touch.

To this storm melody, the wind caresses the grass,
The clouds, seduced by the sounds, the darkness, break.
Sheets of droplets plunge towards the earth,
sucked by the flowerbeds, mirrored by the sunset sky.
and strip us from our artificial selves, expose our skin;
remind us that we find warmth together.

And in a single moment, looking out to the sea,
the sun lifts the storm sheets from her bones,
finds a moment to smile, between your face and the horizon;
beads of water flow down your cheeks from it all,
waterfalls from your amber hair, now silhouetted and illuminated

I sleep tonight in starlight as waves crash down beside me.
This cool air reflects on memories of us in moonlight,
entwined like angels in flight, darkness surrounding me

as thunder breaks the silence. Release me from this haunting.
I will always be with you. I will forever be, I will forever be alone.
I cannot reach your ghost. Are you still there?

Beads of water flow down your cheeks, the star behind you creates a rainbow behind me. And I will forever sleep.
